Margaret Elizabeth Snyder Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth Snyder, 93, of Yuba City, CA, passed away December 25, 2017.

Margaret was a resident of Live Oak, CA, for 90 years, where she graduated from Live Oak High School. She then went on to graduate from Beauty College.

Her last remaining years were at The Courtyard in Yuba City, CA, where she was cared for with kindness, patience and humor. She enjoyed her time there joking with the staff and staying as busy as possible, always wanting to help a fellow resident or assist with a recreational activity.

Margaret enjoyed being an active member of her community belonging to several organizations and clubs. She opened a beauty salon in her home for a few years, then after closing she continued doing hair for a few friends in their home. She also was happy to cut hair for her many nephews and grandsons. She was very proud of her 35 years working as a Pink Lady for Rideout Hospital.
Margaret enjoyed her time serving her country in World War II in the Army Air Forces. Margaret was well known for her love of gardening and having a home that always smelled of something good to eat. She shared her love of these things generously.

Margaret is survived by sister, Florence Sowden of Yuba City; daughters, Cathie L. Ulrich (Eric) of Knights Ferry, CA; and Deborah I. Roush (Kevin) of Yuba City, CA; four grandchildren, Cheryl Ozbirn of WA; Melissa Vargas of NV; Dustin Roush of CA; and Casey Roush of AZ; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray Vander Ploeg; and Ida Ellen Vander Ploeg both of Live Oak; daughter, Joan Ann Snyder; her brother, Richard Vander Ploeg; sister, Frances Smart; and her husband of 64 years, George B. Snyder Jr.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Yuba City on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Open to the public.
Contributions may be made to -Northern CA.

Her spirited nature and sense of adventure will be greatly missed. In her honor, please share your smile freely to those you meet.
