Margaret Turner Obituary

Margaret Turner of Marysville passed away peacefully on February 23, 2014.

Margaret was born on April 12, 1919, in Petaluma, California. After graduating from Petaluma High School, Margaret enrolled at UC Berkeley and joined the Kappa Delta sorority. Graduating from Cal with a business degree in 1941, Margaret moved to San Francisco and worked for Crown Zellerbach and Calpak during WW II.

On October 21, 1945, Margaret married Ellsworth Turner in Petaluma. Ellsworth was also a Petaluma High and UC Berkeley graduate who was just finishing his Navy service. Margaret and Ellsworth made their first home and started their family in Quincy, California. They lived in several Northern Californian towns including Woodland, Lemoore and Pacific Grove before settling in Marysville in 1972. Margaret was a homemaker throughout their married life. Margaret was a long time member of Peach Tree Golf Club and an avid golfer until a few weeks ago. Margaret was also an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Seminar, and Innerwheel. Walking daily until the end of her life, Margaret loved her early morning walks on the Marysville levee.

Margaret is survived by four children, George Turner (Alice) of Lafayette, Jean Ledyard (Dale) of Springfield, Oregon, Karen Eddy (Mike) of Polebridge, Montana and Barbara Turner (Scott) of Sacramento. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at St John's Episcopal Church 800 D St., Marysville.
