Margie Raye Compton (Woolsey) 10/22/1939-10/20/2010 Born in Calhan, CO to Clyde Wilson and Helen Elizabeth Woolsey, Margie passed away at her home after a four year battle with multiple myeloma. Survivors include her husband of 49 years Richard Compton, son Matthew Compton, daughter Melissa and her husband Donald Pritchett, grandchildren Robert and Jennifer Compton and Elizabeth Pritchett, brother Charles Woolsey, and his wife Willie, sister-in-law Marilyn Compton, niece Carrie and her husband Mike Tharp, nephew Charles Woolsey II, niece Kimberly Woolsey, great-nieces Alyssa Tharp and Dominique Patterson, great- nephew J.D. Patterson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Margie taught mathematics for almost fifteen years and spent an additional twelve years working as a mathematician at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, CA. She loved sight-seeing (leave no road untraveled), reading a good book, rock hounding in remote parts of the desert and discovering the scientific names of every bird, bush, flower, reptile and rock. An informal gathering for friends and relatives to celebrate Margie's life will be held in Marysville, CA in the home of Don and Icie Miller (Richard's cousin) on 13 November at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara (www.vnhcsb.org) and the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara (www.ccsb.org) are welcomed. My sister, Annamay, told me of Margie's passing. Though I didn't know her, I remember my thrill of your wedding day. I rarely visit Olivehurst these days, but some of my fondest childhood memories are of you and your family.

With some people one can feel deep sadness and at the same time fond memories. I shared high school and college years with Margie and knew her to be smart, fun, and sometimes outrageous, but always with a laugh. So, Margie, thank you for the fond memories. I know that Richard and your family will have their memories as well.
