Marguerite Smith Crockett Obituary

Marguerite Smith Crockett, 88, died at home in Yuba City, Ca after a short illness. Born on March 30, 1927, she passed away on February 6, 2016.

Marguerite was raised in Hyrum, Utah, daughter of Jesse Estes Smith and Martha Ann Hansen Smith. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and South Cache High School, both in Hyrum. In 1946, she married Ronald Crockett and they raised two daughters, Penny and Jeri in Logan, Utah.

In 1960, Marguerite graduated from Utah State University with a B.A. and a teaching credential and taught in various Logan City Schools until she retired in 1988.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After their retirement, she and Ronald served a mission in Lebanon, Missouri, part of the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Mission. After their return home, they served as supervisors in the baptistry of the Logan, Utah Temple.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Devon Smith Heise.

She is survived by her husband Ronald S. Crockett; two daughters, Penelope (Dennis) Heitman of Yuba City, Ca and Jeraldine (Ivan) Olsen of Ogden, Utah; two brothers, Jesse Odell (Martha) Smith of Ogden, Utah and Don H. (Phyllis) Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also leaves nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Yuba City Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints at 1470 Butte House Road. Funeral services and burial took place on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Hyrum, Utah.
