Marie Rose Obituary

Sister Marie Rose left this earth to be with the Lord on July 18, 2015. She was born January 23, 1917, in Atoka County, Oklahoma to James and Berta Teer and she was the youngest of seven children. She grew up as a farmer's daughter, her father was the Deacon of their church and a sharecropper, but he got a job as a janitor at the high school and moved the family into Kiowa, Oklahoma so Marie could attend high school. She was the only one of her family to graduate from high school and she graduated with honors, earning her diploma in three years. During her high school years, she sang in musical productions and played championship basketball, which earned her a school letter. Later, she attended business school in Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked in a doctor's office in one of her first jobs.

She was married to the late Lee Rose for 55 years and she first moved to the Yuba-Sutter area with Lee and three of their children in 1964. She was an avid fisher woman and frequently went hunting with Lee. During their marriage, they often went camping at Concow Lake and Clear Lake, two of their favorite locations. She was an avid reader and she loved poetry. She wrote many poems for her children and poems about the things and events in her life that were special to her and made her happy.

She was saved in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ when she was 11 years old and she lived her life as a Christian. She was a member of the Yuba City Missionary Baptist Church since 1975. She raised her children in the church and by her faith and service to the Lord, there are five generations serving our Lord. She is survived by her five children: Barbara Davis of Bellevue, CO, Judy Lawrence of Sandpoint, ID, Susan Jack of Carson City, NV, Linda Ward of Yuba City, CA and James Rose of Lompoc, CA. Her survivors also include: 13 loving grandchildren, 25 loving great-grandchildren, 7 loving great-great-grandchildren and numerous other great-grandchildren through blended families.
