Mary Helen Carter Obituary

Mary Helen Carter, a long time resident of Yuba City, passed away January 26, 2014. She was born January 17, 1923 in Solo, Missouri. Mary was employed at Sears for 24 years and said she loved every day that she worked there.

Mary served as PTA President and headed many fundraisers. Mary was always active in the Nazarene Church, especially in the missionary department.

After her retirement, Mary volunteered at Fremont Hospital and served as President of the Hospital Auxiliary, where she was proud of introducing the Baby Lullaby program. After she retired, Mary enjoyed traveling with her friends to many places, including New York, Mexico, Alaska, Germany and China. She wrote a few humorous articles about her travels for the Appeal-Democrat.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Carter, a sister, Virginia Clay and two brothers, Elmo West and Paul West.

Survivors include daughter, Carol Mitchell of Yuba City and sons Jim Carter of Marysville and Charles Carter of Carson City, Nevada, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 10:00 am at Hope Point Nazarene Church, Yuba City.
