Mary Sherman Goodson Obituary

Mary Sherman Goodson, 98 years old, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2018, in Yuba City, California. She was born in Montrose, Colorado, May 13, 1919, to Fred and Myrna Sherman.

The early years of her life were spent on a cattle ranch. She treasured her memories of herding cattle up and over the Mesa's to the higher pastures of the Uncompahgre National Forest. She learned early the value of respect for one another and the ethics of hard work.

She married Levi Goodson, in 1936. They celebrated 64 years before he preceded her in death. She was his partner in the Goodson Construction Co. Roads were their specialty in the Porterville, CA, and Clipper Mills, CA, areas for over 30 years.

She is survived by six children, Gloria (Roger) Scott; Frank (LaFrances) Goodson; Gary (Patty) Goodson; Myrna (Lonnie) Elliott; Darryl (Debra) Goodson; and Allen (Julie) Goodson. Twenty-two grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; were her thrill. She never ceased to enjoy them and was incredibly centered on her love for the whole family.

She equally loved her Church Family in the Pentecostal Truth Tabernacle in Marysville. She served as Director of Missions for 20 years and taught Sunday School, whenever she was needed.

Viewing will be held from 4pm to 8pm, Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Chapel of the Twin Cities Mortuary, 715 Shasta Street, Yuba City. A celebration of Mary's long and bountiful life will be held 11am, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Pentecostal Truth Tabernacle at 5206 Tulip Road, Marysville. Reception following services. Graveside services will be held 1pm, Thursday, March 8, 2018, by Roger Scott Sr at the Grand View Cemetery in Montrose, Colorado. She will be buried next to her loving husband atop of Sunset Mesa.
