Michael "Lance" Lancieri Obituary

Michael "Lance" Lancieri was born in Compton, California, July 7, 1958. The proud parents of their first born son are John and Sheila Lancieri. Michael spent most of his youth and adulthood in the Marysville/Yuba City area. It is here that all of his meaningful memories were made and will remain.

Michael loved his wife (Barbara), family and friends in a special way. We all knew that we had a special place in his world. Anthony Lancieri (his son) had a special bond with his father that few are lucky enough to experience in a lifetime. Their relationship was a gift that I am sure Anthony will pass on to his children (Maia and Hannah).

Michael thought he never wanted to be a "grandpa" until the first one came running into the house calling him "papa". From that day on his eyes lit up whenever the grandkids were looking for papa.

When times were tough in the past year it was the grandkids energy and their parents (Anthony, Faith, Bree, Frankie, Jessie, and Steven) that all brought genuine joy and caring into the house. The Lancieri house will always be encompassed by love and fun, because that is what we value.

Michael worked for PG&E for 30 years. The bonds these employees share is amazing. They supported Michael and his son (also a PG&E employee) throughout the progression of his ALS. His co-workers are truly an outstanding group of people who his family cannot thank enough for their support.

I now need to mention his many friends who stuck with him through the quick progression of his illness. Michael and his buddies thought that at this time of their lives they would be planning golf adventures together and playing horseshoes.
~In a blink of an eye things changed, and they all started spending time with "Lance" not on the golf course, but in his living room laughing about past adventures, bringing food, and spending time together watching the Giants play.

In writing this story of Michael I realize that Crissy and I had a brother whose life as they say "cannot be measured by the quantity of one's years, but the quality". He will always be in our hearts and I am sure he is watching over all of us to make sure we are all alright.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church (3101 Colusa Hwy.,Yuba City) at 10 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2017. Reception to follow at the Elks Club in Marysville. Memorial donations may be made to ALS.org or Hospice.
