Myra Cochran Obituary

Myra Jane (Sullivan) Cochran passed away on July 12, 2015 at the age of 81. Born February 7, 1934 in Orland, California, to Elisha and Cora Sullivan. She has been a resident of Yuba City since 1957.

Myra was a 1951 graduate of Hamilton City High School, attended George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon, and received her degree and teaching credential at California State University, Chico in 1955. Myra taught Home Economics 40 years prior to her retirement in 1994. Her first two years of teaching were at Surprise Valley High School, Cedarville, Modoc County, California. The remaining years were at Yuba City High School as Home Economics Department Chairman. Her classroom is now known as "The Cochran Room". She attended Grace Baptist Church in Yuba City and was active with a Christian Ladies Group, Friend to Friend. She was also a member of California Retired Teachers Association.

Myra enjoyed time spent with her husband, Harold, camping and fishing at Lake Almanor and local areas. Many trips were also taken in their motor home to western states and the Midwest sightseeing and fishing. In her leisure, many hours were spent sewing and crafting.

Survived by her husband, Harold Cochran of Yuba City, daughter Malinda Moore of Yuba City, granddaughter Andrea Pennebaker of Mendocino and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Lillian Edwards, of Hamilton City, California and a brother, Leland Sullivan (Jennie), of Orland, California. Also, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth Beck.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 12 noon at Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
