Nick Barbaccia Obituary

Nick Anthony Barbaccia, age 83, of (District 10) Marysville, CA passed away on Sept. 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, CA with loved ones by his side. Nick was born on Sept. 25, 1926 in Campbell, CA to Antonio & Maria Carmella (Camicia) Barbaccia. He grew up in Santa Clara Valley and attended Campbell & Lincoln High Schools. He furthered his education at U.O.P. in Stockton CA. Nick also served in the US Army 2 yrs., 1954-56. In 1950 he moved to Yuba County and bought property. With his brother Phil, they raised prunes & peaches. They built, owned & operated "Barbaccia Bros." their commercial prune dehydrating business for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge (B.P.O.E.) in Marysville, CA. He is survived by his wife Norma of 58 years; his daughters, Diane Barbaccia of Yuba City, CA, and Carmel Barbaccia of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two grandchildren, Joan Herboth of Marysville, CA and Craig Herboth, presently of Colorado Springs, CO, serving as a Specialist in the US. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters: Rosalie, Dominica, Santina, Anna, Theresa; and a brother, Phil.
Services are under the direction of Lipp and Sullivan, Marysville. Viewing on Mon. Sept. 27, from 2-7 P.M. The Rosary will be recited on Mon. at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, Tues., Sept. 28, at 11:30 A.M. Graveside services will follow at Sierra View Memorial Park. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. What a wonderful man... This was my first impression of Nick and a lasting fond memory . Nick generously shared love & laughter ... Smiles to the heart. Nick was an outstanding person. I first met him about 25 years ago and he was just the nicest person. He was hands down the best prune dryer operator in the area. More than anything, he was a very genuine person. He will be missed.
