Norma Dowds Obituary
Norma Jean Dowds, born December 13, 1932, at 78 years, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Oct. 31, 2011.
Loving wife of 60 years to Dwight Dowds and a great mom to Gayle (Jerry) Marta and Cheri Klusman.
Norma was preceded in death by the big guy, Donnie, Cheri's husband.
Dwight & Norma moved up to Yuba City in 1964 and owned Yuba Plaza Chevron until 1980. Norma worked for and retired from Sutter Co. Tax Collector.
Dwight & Norma sold their home and traveled the US for 12 years in the "Big Blue Bus", their motorhome, returning to Yuba City to be near their family in 2007. Upon returning, Dwight & Norma managed Travelhome RV Park for 4 years, then recently retired again and bought a new home and were settling in.
Norma fought many health battles in her life and just didn't have the strength to fight any more. The "Old Gray Haired Broad", as Norma liked to refer to herself, is at peace.
Per Norma's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Norma's name to The American Cancer Society or The Fremont- Rideout Foundation.
During Norma's various stays at Rideout Hospital, she received excellent care from the nurses, lab & x-ray technicians and the many doctors who treated her. The family would like to thank each and every one of you!

To Mr. Dowds, Gayle and Cheri, (I can't call your Dad by anything else)..I was good friends with Cheri in high school and after. I spent time with the Dowds and they will always be a fond memory to me. May you feel the arms of God around you during this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm the youngest daughter, Cheri. We would often joke about the eldest and the youngest daughter. Our family was very close and spent a lot of time together.I am so glad I've got great memories of my Mom. We enjoyed dinners, hanging out together and shopping. Mom was quite a shopper and taught me you get more with sugar than salt, She never met a stranger--she had the knack to find out who you were and what you did. I miss you so very much. My Mom was a great woman and I owe who I am to her and my Dad. You could not ask for more wonderful parents! Mom set high standards and ones I always tried to live up to. Though my world will never be the same because my Mom is gone, I know she is in a better place and no longer in pain. She does and will live on in my heart and my many, many memories. There is not one part of my life that she has not touched and I will cherish all she was forever. Mama, you will have my love and admiration always! Your eldest daughter.

Our deepest sympathy to Dwight and family. Norma's (and Dwight's) graciousness always made our visits to Travel Home Park very pleasant. A very nice lady!

To Norma's family.
I got to know Dwight and Norma when I worked at Rico's Pizza many years ago. Norma was such a sweet woman. I will always remember the smile on her face every time I would see her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family at this time. God Bless
