Norma Redmond Obituary

Norma Redmond, 87, of Live Oak, CA, passed away peacefully in Yuba City, on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2015. She was born November 25, 1927 in Louann, Arkansas, to Powell and Susie Crossland. She was the youngest of three daughters. Norma spent her childhood in southwest Arkansas and east Texas.

She is predeceased by her husband, Ernie, with over 49 years of marriage. Norma and Ernie married on September 24, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they both lived. At the time of their marriage, Norma and Ernie both had two daughters. Shortly after marriage, they moved to the South Bay area in Los Angeles County where they had a son. Norma took a position with the South Bay Union High School District in August 1970. She continued her education and completed business courses through the University of California Los Angeles/UCLA. She retired in June 1988 as the Director of Purchasing, Warehouse and Property Management. In August 1988, they relocated for retirement to Live Oak, CA.

Norma was a fabulous cook and hostess. She loved to host holidays and gatherings for family and friends. Her home was often filled with loved ones and relations celebrating life. She loved her rose bushes and gardening in general. Norma was an avid artist and she loved to spend quiet time sketching and painting, she was also an active member and volunteer of Saint Timothy Episcopal Church in Gridley, CA.

Norma is survived by her two daughters, Carol and Mary; son, Shane; two step-daughters, Jane and Teri; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held for Norma at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Saint Timothy Episcopal Church, 410 Jackson St., Gridley, CA. There will be a reception for family and friends immediately following at the Redmond residence in Live Oak. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saint Timothy Episcopal Church in Norma's name.
