Oreda O. Jensen Obituary
Oreda O. Jensen
On the morning of June 28, 2014, our beloved Oreda (aka) "Granny J" took her final breath, surrounded by her family at Rideout Memorial Hospital. She was born November, 23, 1924 in Cullman, AL.

Oreda was spunky and vivacious all the way to the end. She approached life and all of her endeavors with a real zest and passion. She had a mighty spirit known to leave a lasting impression to all who knew her.

Oreda was talented in the kitchen and as domestic as domestic could be. There wasn't much she couldn't do from sewing to cooking, crafting and gardening. Oreda was a marvelous host, fabulous cook and an extraordinaire of family meals and gatherings. She had a way of making everything in life a little more beautiful and that's what she did for herself and the people she loved.

She was the epitome of unconditional and undivided love to those she was closest to. Her strength and perseverance was a force to be marveled at and she lead an exemplary life of strong moral values. She had a flair for fashion. Oreda was always a woman of prideful beauty and always well put together mentally and physically to the very end of her life. She was fiercely independent and not much could slow here down. That was just her nature.

She was multi faceted and a woman of many hats. Oreda attended and completed her education as a dental hygienist in the 1940's. She later attended Cosmetology school in Yuba City in 1967.

She was a great business woman and worked in retail marketing, sales and management for most of her adult life. After settling in Yuba City during her husband Harlan's military career, she worked in marketing retail and management at Jay's Department Store in Marysville during 50's and 60's and later went on to manage Hart's Fabric World in the 70's and 80's. Her final career path lead to Walmart of Yuba City in the late 80's as door greeter where she finally retired from Walmart of El Centro, CA after 17 years of employment at the age of 85. Shortly after her retirement she moved back to Yuba City from El Centro, CA. She and her beloved dog "Buttons" returned to Sutter County after the passing of her only son in order to be close to her grandchildren and extended family.

Survivors include; Sister Rosanell Hill (Wallace) of Lake Mary, FL; Granddaughters Gabrielle Jensen; Great Granddaughters Megan Jensen and Rebeca Hill of Yuba City; Grandsons Christopher Crowhurst of Yuba City and Timothy Crowhurst (Sara) of Sutter; 10 Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews. Daughter-in- laws, Carol Woods, Sherrie Line and Carolyn Haggard.
