1919 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Patricia Dean (Sweet) Elliott Obituary

Patricia Dean Sweet Elliott (Pat) entered heaven's gates at 1:35 A.M. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. She left this earth while in the company of her three children: Richard C. Elliott, of Klamath Falls, OR; Rita H. Dilger, of Bakersfield, CA and Randall E. Elliott, of Yuba City, CA and the loving and caring staff at the Fountains Nursing Home.

Patricia was born in Los Angeles, CA to George and Helena Sweet in 1919. She graduated from Alhambra High School in 1936. She married Charles E. Elliott in 1941 and they moved to Goshen IN in 1946, where they owned and operated Elliott's Meat Market.

Upon committing their lives to Jesus Christ, in 1949, they moved to Portland, OR, where Charles studied for the ministry at Pacific Bible College. In 1952 they began their first pastorate in Petaluma, CA, where Pat played the piano and organized music for the church services. They moved to Lodi, CA, in 1956, where they began their second pastorate and where she played piano and organ, directed choir and coordinated the music for the services. She also led women's study groups and the women's missionary society. Her passion was to support and encourage women facing difficult challenges.

The couple moved to Yuba City, CA, in 1962, to their third pastorate, at the First Church of God. It was here that they co-founded the Mother Goose Nursery School, in 1967. After completing her training, Pat became the director of the school, which brought out abilities that had gone unrecognized until that time. Mother Goose Nursery School is fondly remembered by many members and leaders of this community. Music had been a large part of her life, starting with piano lessons to encouraging each of her three children to develop their musical gifts. She loved to travel and also enjoyed their home built houseboat.

While both in their seventies, in 1991, they started Crossroads Community Church, here in Yuba City. Her husband, Charles, passed away in 2007 and was surely there to greet her upon her arrival in heaven. He was joined by her mother, Helena, grandmother, Amy, brother, Phil, and great-grandson, Hayden Elliott. In addition to her three children, Patricia is survived by: daughters-in-law; Gloria Elliott, Rosemary Elliott and son-in-law, Al Dilger; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, from 4:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel; 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA. The interment will be on Friday, February 3rd, at 1:00 P.M. at Sutter Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at Crossroads Community Church, 445 "B" St., Yuba City, CA on Saturday, February 4th, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Community Church.
