Patrick Francis Joyce Obituary

Patrick Francis Joyce born August 20, 1930, in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland, passed away peacefully August 28, 2017, in Yuba City, California. Patrick was the son of Martin and Kathleen Joyce. He was the youngest of thirteen children and is survived by his sister, Anne Feeney, of Leicester, England.

At the age of seventeen, Patrick arrived in the United States after being sponsored by his Uncle, Stephen Joyce, of New York. Patrick traveled extensively across the United States doing odd jobs to support himself in many different cities. Eventually, Patrick enlisted in the Army in 1951. He fought in the Korean War in order to become a US citizen. After the war, he settled in San Francisco where he met and married Katherine Bennett. While in San Francisco, they had two children; John and Marie Joyce. The Joyce's moved to Wisconsin, settled on a farm and had four more children; Brian Joyce (Gail), Eileen Catledge (Steve), Kathleen Joyce, and Jason Joyce (D'Andrea). He had eight grandchildren. While in Wisconsin, Patrick worked as a butcher for many years.

As the children grew and left home, the Joyce's moved back to California. Patrick settled in Yuba City where he continued his career as a butcher. Patrick never officially retired. Rather, he began a landscaping business that kept him busy for many years. Patrick was a very hard worker. He enjoyed being outside and took daily long walks throughout the Yuba Sutter area.

Patrick loved being around his family and friends. He was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. Patrick was kind, generous and had positive words for everyone. He was a gifted musician who taught himself how to play the violin, guitar, accordion, and harmonica.

Patrick lived his remaining days at the Fountains in Yuba City. He was beloved by many staff members, residents, visitors and anyone who came in contact with him. Dad, we'll miss you! Rest in Peace.
