Paul M. Broughton Obituary

August 26, 1928 - June 17, 2016

Born in Bronaugh, Misssouri, Paul grew up and attended school in Jerome, Idaho. As was common in the Depression years, he left home as a teen; and, embarked on some fabulous adventures. He worked as a cow hand and boxed professionally. He joined the US Marine Corps, where he proudly served in the Korean War as an ammunitions expert. He was then stationed in Hawthorne, Nevada where he met and married Verna (Toddy) Gori.

His early passion for reading led him to enter college in 1960 where he pursued his dream of becoming a teacher and then an administrator at the high school level. He loved teaching and touched many lives throughout his career.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman; and, enjoyed building and fixing things. He was an honest man with strong moral convictions. He possessed an amazing sense of humor and zest for life. People were quickly drawn to him and loved him. He battled and overcame many health issues over the years, until the good Lord called him home.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verna (Toddy); daughters Cheryl (Cal) Rouse and Christine (Joe) Crady; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Service: Friday July 01, 10:30AM at Sacramento Valley Nat'l Cemetary, Dixon, CA.
