Phyllis Garcia Patane was born in Macotera, Spain on March 2nd, 1917 to parents Lorenzo and Gabriela (Zaballos) Garcia. She passed peacefully on November 1st, 2016, at the age of 99 at the Gardens Assisted Living in Yuba City, CA. When Phyllis was age 3, the family immigrated to the U.S. via Ellis Island, N.Y. and then on to Gilroy, CA, where she attended and graduated from Gilroy schools. She was active with her three son's activities in 4-H and PTA until their move to Sutter County in 1959, when they settled in the farming community of Live Oak. Throughout these years, Phyllis was an important part of the farming operation with husband Joe as well as an active member of the Nuestro School activities and 4-H leader. She had been a dedicated member of the St. Isidore Catholic Church and YLI for many years. In addition, Phyllis was an avid cook and gardener and in the earlier years, pursued oil painting as one of her past times.
Phyllis is survived by her sister Frances Bozzo (Fresno) and brother Tony Garcia (Oregon). She is also survived by son Randy and his wife Marilyn and daughter-in-law Myra along with five loving grandchildren, Jason (Laurel), Aaron (Kelsie), Gino (Andrea), Matt (Mary), Jolene (Kelby) Sheppard and thirteen adorable great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Joseph, Phyllis is preceded in death by two sons Larry (2014) and Joseph Jr. (2015) and two brothers, Manuel and Peter Garcia.
The family would like to give their sincere gratitude to the Gardens Assisted Living for their loving care while Phyllis was fortunate enough to be in their care. Also, the family will forever be thankful to Sutter North Hospice for the loving and excellent care they gave Phyllis and the family the last week of her life.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 11th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Avenue, Yuba City, CA 95991.
