Ralph Byron Kephart Obituary

Ralph passed away in Eugene, Oregon of natural causes, November 2, 2017. Ralph was born August 11, 1914, in La Moore, North Dakota to May and Elby Kephart. He was the third of five children.

His family moved to Lakeside, CA, where he graduated from high school. He attended UC Davis and graduated with a bachelor's degree in agriculture in 1937.

He served in the Army during WWII. After the war he continued to serve in the reserves until he retired in 1972 as a Lt. Colonel. He was a life member of VFW in Springfield, OR.

Ralph also worked as a fruit buyer for Del Monte Corporation while living in Yuba City until he retired in 1980. In 1998, he and his wife Ellinor moved to Eugene to be near their grandchildren.

Ralph enjoyed playing golf, bridge and cribbage, watching sports, being involved in his church, and most of all being with his two grandsons. At 103, he was still actively pursuing life, exercising, playing cards and bingo, and being involved in the community of Lone Oak Assisted Living in Eugene, OR.

Ralph will be remembered for his quick and dry wit, his willingness to serve, and his loyalty to his wife, family, church, and friends. All who knew him will also miss his delicious divinity he made every Christmas.

Ralph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dorian and David Buttacavoli; his grandchildren, Ryan and Chris Buttacavoli; and Chris' wife, Britney. His wife Ellinor passed away in 2012.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Reverend Chris Kersting officiating.
