1926 - 2016

Ray K. Bramer, 90, of San Jose, California, died Saturday at the VA Palo Alto Hospital. Born January 14, 1926 in Marysville, California to Benjamin James and Sadie Agnes Bramer, he was the baby of the family and was affectionately known as "Little Ray of Sunshine" by his mother.

He attended Marysville High School. He enlisted in the US Navy after high school and proudly served his country as a Torpedoman's Mate Third Class on the USS Carbonero SS337 submarine during WW2. He graduated from San Jose State College

Ray and Glenna House Bramer were married on May 3, 1952, and resided in San Jose. He worked for many years at Lew Jones Construction Company, and later for Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company as a civil engineer. Ray and Glenna were married for 52 years and raised seven children. Ray was honored in Washington D.C. as a WW2 veteran with the Honor Flight program in 2015. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Sadie, his dear wife Glenna, and his cherished siblings Benjamin J. Bramer, Jr., Robert T. Bramer, and Helen Bramer.

Ray is survived by his daughter Rayna and her husband Vito Galati, as well as his six sons and their wives – Keith Bramer and Julie Kleis-Bramer, Mathias Bramer, Patrick and Christine Bramer, Ray S Bramer, Glenn Bramer, and Timothy and Tess Bramer. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren – Alexandra Galati Kuhn (husband Joel Kuhn); Briana, Dakota and Giabela Bramer; Shiray, Scott and Brent Bramer; Bo and Belle Bramer; and Max and Sam Bramer. Ray was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, and family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. A funeral mass will be held in the Saint Clare Chapel at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, on Friday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m., 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara. The rite of committal will follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VA Palo Alto (for General Fund #2202) and sent to Voluntary Service, 3801 Miranda Avenue, Palo Alto, California 94304.
