Richard A. Lawson of Yuba City, age 81, passed away January 9, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.

He served in the Air Force throughout the United States, The United Kingdom and Vietnam from 1950 to 1970. He also worked for the United States Post Office from 1971 to 1983 and graduated from Yuba College.

He was an active lifetime member of the VFW, served as Post Commander and District Commander. He was also an active member of Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, United Veteran's Council, Yuba-Sutter Stand-Down and the Cooties.

He was on the committee for both the Yuba and Sutter County Memorials. He served on the Sutter County Grand Jury. He served many times at voter elections. He enjoyed stock car racing, racing on of his own, putting model airplanes together, arts and crafts and fixing things.

Viewing will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 15 at Holycross Memorial, 486 Bridge St., Yuba City. Burial will be at Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Ave., Sutter with full Military Honors at 11:00 A.M., January 16.
