Richard H. "Dick" Barton Obituary
Richard H. "Dick" Barton passed away on May 9, 2014.

Dick was born on September 26, 1924 in Wheatland to Isabella and George Barton. He lived in Wheatland his entire life.

He married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Hamon, on May 15, 1946. They built their home on Fourth Street in Wheatland. Anyone driving by the house on summer evenings would see Dick sitting on the front porch with a friendly wave.

Dick was a truck driver for almost forty years for Yuba County and Baldwin Construction. After he retired he spent his days with Eleanor and his family and friends. He was always doing something for someone else and could be counted on to pitch in and help in any way he could.

Dick loved sports and taught his sons the value of team spirit and fair play. You would find him running the chains on Friday nights at Wheatland High School football games. He refereed basketball games and was involved in Little League. The front door at the house was always open, there was always room for one more at the dinner table and there was always a game on the TV.

Dick is survived by his wife Eleanor, sons Dave, Jeff and Brad, eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rich, grandson Paul, great-grandson Grant, and two sisters, Carrie Souza and Zella Sohrakoff.

Dick lived a full life and leaves a legacy of love, honesty and humility. He was the definition of a "good man."

Services will be conducted at St Daniels Catholic Church in Wheatland on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 AM.

A reception will be held immediately following the service.
