Rickey J. Raper Obituary

Rickey J. Raper passed away suddenly Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Altus, Oklahoma. A celebration of life will be held in Altus on Saturday March 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus. The service can also be viewed online at Lowell-Tims.com.

Rick was born in Marysville, in 1955 to Carolyn Hawkins and Charles Raper. At 18, Rick joined the Air Force and served for 22 years as Master Sergeant, specializing as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Superintendent. During that time, he traveled to various places like Germany, the Philippines and Japan. After retiring in 1996, he made his home in Altus, Oklahoma and worked in civilian service for 19 years and eventually retired again in 2015.

Rick is survived by his parents Charles Raper (Texas) and Carolyn Hawkins (Yuba City); a son Rickey Raper (Chirel) of Oklahoma, a daughter Elizabeth of Oklahoma, and granddaughter Jade of Oklahoma, who was his pride and joy. Rick is also survived by a brother, Roger of Sacramento.

Rick enjoyed various hobbies from gardening to riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Rick was very stoic and was held in high regard by everyone who knew him. His reserved nature, vibrant sense of humor and strong intellect will be greatly missed. His spirit and charm will live forever with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
