Robert Anthony Dutra Obituary

Robert Anthony Dutra, 72, slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord Jesus, after a hard fought battle with dementia. Married to his wife, Dawna, he taught his children and grandchildren unconditional love and forgiveness. Guided by a desire to do the right thing and enjoy the world around him, he befriended everyone he met, and mentored many to be the best versions of themselves that they could be.

Born July 15, 1943 in Sacramento, CA, to Vernon and Eleanor Dutra, Bob spent his childhood in Dixon, CA, with his father and stepmother, Marie Dutra graduating from Dixon High School and Sacramento City College. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service.

He is survived by his wife, Dawna, his sons, David, Mark and Eric; his stepchildren, Larry Gregory and Sarah Rohan England; his brothers, Al Dypzck, Vern Dypzck and Jeff Dutra; and his brother-in-law, Jim Cody. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Harley.

Bob was an extremely hard worker and a true gentle giant, always putting others needs before his own. He touched many lives with his selflessness and kindness. His family will continue to memorialize the richness of his life, personal integrity, honesty and love of family.

Special thanks to Dr. Keith McAfee and his staff and the staff of Yuba Skilled Nursing for their kind care of Bob the last three months.

To honor Bob's final wishes, there will be no memorial service. Please do a kind deed and be generous to a stranger, friend, or family member who does not expect, nor deserve it. After you have done this act of kindness, please let Dawna know about it ([email protected]). This will ensure that Bob's legacy of kindness and caring endures.

His ashes will be scattered at Bodega Bay, CA, at a later date in a private gathering.

Contributions can be made in his name to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Street, Yuba City, CA 95991 or Faith Christian School, 3105 Colusa Highway, Yuba City, CA 95993.
