Robert Charles Waller Jr.

A Memories Gathering will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gridley Moose Lodge (casual attire) for Rob Waller, 48 of Gridley, California. He passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010. He was born January 1, 1962 at Madigan General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington and was a Gridley resident from age 6 months. Rob attended and graduated Gridley schools and Butte College. He was a land leveler by trade, and had at one time harvested pistachios in the mid regions of California. His early agricultural education began on the family farms around Gridley. As a sideline, he was in the firewood business. His service to the Gridley community included preparing the playground at Manzanita School for landscaping and sprinkling system. Rob was a NASCAR enthusiast and a pheasant and duck hunter. Chase, Mimi, and Pete, John Wayne, Dale Earnhardt, George Jones, U-2, and motorcycles were his other interests. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, a former Cub Scout, Manzanita 4-Her, and a participant in the Gridley FFA program. He was preceded in death by brother, Russell Bradley Waller, and grandparents, Pete and Edith Waller and Max and Eleanor Schohr. Rob is survived by his children, Chase Bradley Waller, MacKenzie Lynn Waller, and Peter Browning Waller, all of Gridley. He is also survived by his parents, Bob and Sandra Waller of Gridley; a brother Erich Waller of Colusa, and former wife, Alison Waller of Chico. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to UCSF Foundation, Brain Tumor Foundation, 22 Battery St., Ste. 612, San Francisco, CA 94111-5520 in the name of Russell B. Waller; the Sacred Heart Food Closet; the Gridley FFA Barn Project; the Gridley Museum, or the Gridley Friends of the Library. Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
