Robert J. Novak Obituary

Robert Jay (Big Bob) Novak, age 63, died July 5, 2014 at his home in Marysville. Born in Bismarck, North Dakota, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident since 1965.

He worked in agriculture for Valley View Farms, Woodland Nut, Inc., Sunsweet, and the Del Monte Corporation. He was a former member of the Teamsters Union and a retired member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local #8, working for Lucky stores in Yuba City and Marysville for 20 years.

He was a graduate of Marysville High School, Yuba College and completed studies at California State University at Sacramento in Environmental Health Engineering.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara Damrell, mother Eleanor Novak, his sisters Judy Alsop and Carol Longoria, his brother-in-law Raul Longoria, niece Lauren Longoria, and best friend, Doug Ward. He is preceded in death by his father Randall J. Novak and his infant sister, Carol Margaret Novak. Per Bob's wishes, there will not be a public service.

He loved the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He loved hot rods and motorcycles. He was an avid explorer of the California foothills. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered by both friends and family.

Here he lies where he long'd to be;
Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.
