Roger L. Murray Obituary

Roger L. Murray passed away January 21, 2016 and will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him. Roger was the son of Albert & Aura Murray, born on January 19, 1929. He grew up in Oakdale, CA, and moved up here with his new wife and parents in 1948.

He was a dairy farmer and rice farmer in the early years and later on became a contractor and began a land leveling/excavation business, which he continued until he died. His last big project was last summer. He was proud to say he did not retire! He knew how to do anything - he was the go-to guy and helped many people throughout his life. He worked in Ecuador & Belize.

He was on the Wheatland High School Board for 43 years. He was active with the FFA and Ag Department at the high school and loved mentoring the kids about welding and restoring old tractors. He helped start the Plumas Brophy fire district, and did many projects for the Yuba County Water Agency. He was really the happiest going off to work in the morning! We will be sharing much more about Dad's life at his service.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of 67 years, his children Sue (John) of Australia, Eric of La Porte, Laurie of Yuba City, Carol of Oroville, and his two granddaughters Linda and Jill of Australia. He is also survived by his nephews Steve (Cindy) and family, Todd (Tammy) and family, and niece Terri. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don, and sister-in-law Bev. Dad wanted any donations to go to Wheatland High School FFA/Ag Department.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Plaza Room at Hillcrest Plaza, Yuba City, Friday, February 5, 2016, 11:30 AM.
