After high school she worked as a bartender in a local pub while starting her college education. She found she enjoyed bartending and left school to follow that path. Sandy came to the United States in 1961 landing in Joplin, Mo, She returned to England for a short while returning to Sumter, S. Carolina. Sandy moved to Marysville, CA, where she worked at various dinner houses and bars. There she met Albert Chagnon, they were married in 1983. Al was in the U.S. Navy and until his retirement in 1990. Sandy continued her bartending career while moving up and down the California coast. In 1993 Sandy and Al moved to Walla Walla, WA where she worked at the Elks Lodge. She retired in 2004 and she and Al moved to Othello.

Sandy was an animal lover, cats were her first love, and she worked with Cockatiels but her Pekingese puppies crept into her heart and stayed there. She was an avid flower gardener, especially roses; she belonged to the garden club, The Othello Eagles and past member of the Marysville and Walla Walla Elks Lodge. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who would help anybody.
