Shirley Belle Benton Obituary

Shirley Belle Benton, 80, was born August 25, 1935 in Wellsville, KS and passed away in Marysville, CA on June 10, 2016

She was preceded in death by her father, Ben Pool in 1938, mother, Gladys Putynkowski in 1990, and brother, Gary Putynkowski in 1994.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Benton, son Michael Benton and daughter-in-law Carla, daughter Lynn Benton, granddaughter Kristen Benton, grandson James Benton, great-grandson Beckett Benton, sister Marjorie Hartnett and brother-in-law Prince, sister Alberta Corder and brother-in-law Dan, brother-in-law Robert Benton and wife Sabrina, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shirley moved to the Yuba-Sutter area at approximately age 10. She met Richard while completing her AA degree at Yuba College, and the couple later married on February 1, 1958.

Shirley worked as a bookkeeper at the California Division of Highways, Del Monte and G&P Motors. She and Richard purchased Mr. Paul's Market and enjoyed an early retirement together after many successful years.

Trips with Richard, golf, shopping and cooking for family were among Shirley's favorite activities. She also loved music, reading, favorite movies such as, "Places in the Heart," and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Above all else, Shirley was a kind, loving person who did everything she could to help others. We will love you and miss you forever Shirley Belle -wife, mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, great-aunt, friend, amazing human being.

A memorial service for Shirley is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10am at Chapel of the Twin Cities, 715 Shasta St, Yuba City. http://www.chapelofthetwincities.com/obituary/item/709-shirley-belle-benton.
