Shirley Jean (Fouch) Lawson Obituary

Shirley Jean (Fouch) Lawson, 81, of Livermore, CA, passed away on May 2, 2016. She was surrounded by her husband and surviving children. She was born on August 6, 1934.

Shirley grew up in Yuba City, CA, the second child of James Fouch and Ina (Chatfield) Fouch. Shirley met Leonard while they were in high school. They were married on October 24, 1953. They traveled to many places while Leonard was in the Air Force and had their first two children. They settled in Chico briefly while Leonard earned his college degree and had two more children. They then moved to Sacramento where their fifth child was born and finally to Livermore where they have lived since 1966. Shirley was involved in all her children's activities from school to Little League, Boy Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls. She worked at Livermore National Bank and Bank of the West. She made friends with everyone and was well liked by all. She was a joyful person, always telling jokes and making people laugh. She spent her retirement years traveling around the country with Leonard in their motorhome, visiting family, friends, and beautiful places. She especially loved the Oregon Coast, which she was able to visit last October.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Lawson; her daughters Debbie Olsen and Denise Hernandez; her son Michael Lawson; her siblings Joanne Walker and James Fouch; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), She is also survived by her sons-in law Randy Olsen and Jose Hernandez, her daughters-in-law Carol Lawson, Kathy Roddy, and Becky Lawson. She was preceded in death by her sons Richard Lawson (1989) and Stuart Lawson (2015) and her granddaughter Michelle Lawson (1989).

Services will be held at Callahan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave. Livermore, CA at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 13. Additional services will be held at The Rivers Church, 1548 Poole Blvd. Yuba City, CA, on Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 am followed by a burial at Lofton Cemetery in Wheatland. A reception will follow after and the location will be announced at the services.
