Sophie P. Karnegas Obituary

Sophie P. Karnegas "YiaYia" 93 of Yuba City passed away peacefully with her family by her side November 21, 2017.

She was born January 31, 1924, in Virginia, Mn. Graduated in 1942, from Central High School. Sophie worked in her father's restaurant, The Spanish Castle, in Duluth from the time of his death until her family moved to Sacramento in 1950.

Sophie met Harry Karnegas at a Christmas dance in Sacramento in 1951. They were engaged on Valentine's Day and married June 15, 1952.

She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her
family, knitting, crocheting and baking.

Proceeded in death by her husband Harry Karnegas. Survived by her sister Manthea Kartinos of Walnut Creek, her children, Demetra (Dea) Karnegas of Sacramento, Ted Karnegas (Sally), Marianne Karnegas Owings (Mike), all of Yuba City. She was a loving Yia Yia to Aris Karnegas (Natalie), Jamie Perry, Andrea Gomes (Gus), Monica Blumka (Anthony), Candice Micheli (Justin) Cory and Cameron Owings. Big YiaYia to Sophie and Cole Karnegas, Macy Gomes, Nathan Blumka, Olivia and John Micheli. Thea Sophie to several nieces and nephews.

Rosary (Trisigion) will be Sunday, November 26, 2017, 3:00 pm, at Ullrey's Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 27, 2017, 11:00 am, at St. Isidore Catholic Church.
