Spencer Will (Mike) Jones Obituary

Spencer Will (Mike) Jones, a resident of Pahrump, Nevada; former resident of North Highlands and Marysville, California; passed away on January 2, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born August 6, 1941 in Traverse City, Michigan to Spencer Wallace and Julia Hawthorne Hall Jones. He was named after his grandfathers Charles Spencer Jones and Will Andrew Dibble Hall. He grew up in Traverse City, Germany and France while his father served in the occupation forces after World War II. Mike graduated from Marysville Union High School in Marysville, California in 1959, and Yuba College in 1961 (where he played the bagpipes in the award-winning Yuba College Highland Band).

Mike worked from the age of 13, during high school and college at the beneficence of family friend Charles M. Davis at his Swanson's feed mill/store. He worked for the California Division of Highways, transferring to Tehachapi, California on a promotion. In May of 1970 he began working at Teichert Aggregates in Sacramento until he retired in November 1992. He then moved to Pahrump in hopes of finding new employment and to be with family.

In 1961, Mike married Sharon Lynn Childs and together they had six children: Shawn, Shelly, Scott, Kenny, Sandi and Rick. After their divorce Mike married Lois Coombs in 1980 and together they had sons Andrew and Cameron.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Wallace, wife Lois, granddaughter Heather, and brother-in-law Jeff.

He is survived by his mother Julia Hall Jones McDougal, sisters Susan Lee and Laminda B. Wojdylak (Herm), first wife Sharon, children Shawn Elizabeth (Rayburn) Sinor, Shelly Lee (Ed) Kilbourn, Scott Wallace (Kathy) Jones, Spencer Kenneth (Kenny) Jones, Sandra Lynn (Sandi) (Kevin Edner) Jones, Stacy Patrick (Rick) (Marie) Jones, Andrew Curtis Jones, Cameron Tyler Jones, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Pahrump. Inurnment will be at a later date in Browns Valley Cemetery in Browns Valley, California.
