Obituary Condolences

Mr. Music

Stanley was born in Marysville, October 1946. He spent his early life working on his father's (Sherman/Slick) peach ranch on Oswald Road.

After his mother (Alice) moved into town, he attended Bridge Street School, followed by Gray Avenue School and Yuba City High School. He joined the National Guard at the age of 18.

He bought Sosville Music on Cooper Avenue in 1969 and renamed it Mr. Music, running the business for 8 years before starting a career in the California Dept. of Corrections. He visited musicians playing locally and enjoyed promoting them, dreaming up the yearly Yuba City "Battle of the Bands".

For 25 years he worked at 4 different institutions in various positions retiring as (LT) Camp Commander at Chamberlain Creek near Fort Bragg, CA, with many commendations.

Forced to retire early due to an injury as part of a CDF Strike Team, he took up golfing as a hobby and traveled with his close friend Bob to warmer climates during Sacramento winters.

He was a photographer, a joker, natural athlete, amazing organizer, handyman extraordinaire, loyal 49'er fan, loving husband and passionate conservative. Everything he did, he did well with an artists eye.

His battle with throat cancer was lost in late June 2014 and as he desired, there was no ceremony. He was deeply loved and is greatly missed.

Stan was survived by his wife of 32 years, 2 daughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, brother, sister, nieces, nephew and cousins.
