Steven Howard Bennett

Obituary Condolences

Born November 30, 1957, died suddenly on May 30, 2014 at the age of 56.

Steve was born in Sacramento to Howard and Barbara Bennett. After excelling in high school including FFA and the golf team, he attended Cal Poly where he was in leadership and the AGR fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Ag Business Management and had a successful career promoting advanced plant technology throughout Northern California.

Steve is survived by his wife of 10 years, Melinda, whom he loved unconditionally. They enjoyed their numerous trips to Hawaii and the planning for their next real estate adventure. Together they maintained friendships and built many new ones around their home in Graeagle.

Steve leaves behind son Nate (Julie) Bennett, son Adam (Veronica) Bennett, daughter Amanda Bennett and beloved "God" daughter Aleah Grace Stickle (who calls him Daddy); his father and mother; sister Jane Vandenhoff; and brother Barry (Lisa) Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve made sure that his family knew Jesus. He made time to be involved with his children's activities and to be known to their friends. His gift of conversation often turned into sharing of (mostly funny) jokes. After his first hole-in-one at age 9, he was hooked. He rarely went a week without playing a round with long-time friends, business associates or family. He is already missed by all that knew him.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 7 at Graeagle Community Church, 150 Graeagle-Johnsville Rd., Graeagle.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. See www.thefirstteesacramento.org for more information.
