Steven John Mullins Obituary

Steven John Mullins, 61, passed away at his home in Forest Ranch, Butte County, on March 4th, 2017. Cause of death was heart failure.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the Marysville First United Methodist Church, 730 D St., Marysville, CA.

Steve was born in Pasco, Washington, but came to California before he was a year old. The family lived in Yuba City briefly, moved to Marysville in 1957 then to Hallwood where Steve attended Cordua School through eighth grade. He was active in Yuba County 4-H, and enjoyed fishing and duck hunting in the drudge ponds.

He attended Marysville High School where he played football and was on the swim team. Steve graduated from MHS in 1974, then attended Yuba College and graduated from CSU Chico with a degree in Construction Management. After graduation, he worked construction for two years before beginning his career in management for ATT in the Bay Area, retiring in 2006.

He enjoyed working on his jeep, hunting, fishing, and camping trips with family, as well as spending many happy hours at the Bent Barrel Duck Club. In retirement, Steve fulfilled his dream of "living in the mountains", moving to Forest Ranch in 2011 to be near his brother Mark and family.

Steve was a great son, brother, uncle, and friend, and most of all, a truly wonderful father. He was a fine and gentle man who was much loved and enjoyed time spent with family and his dog, Susie. He will always be in our thoughts and very precious memories.

He is survived by his son, Chase; mother, Lenna; brother, Mark, and his wife Christie; nieces Natalie and Lauren Mullins; nephews Peter and Nicholas Spangler, and his aunt, Twila Zeller.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to , the Chico Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, or a .
