Steven Ryker Gerrtt Smith Obituary

Steven Ryker Gerrtt Smith, born October 24, 2015, was granted his angel wings and little halo on September 3, 2016, in Sacramento CA, following a tragic accident. Steven's final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he meant the world to throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

Steven was a ray of light to all who knew him. One couldn't help but notice his beautiful smile and contagious laugh. He enjoyed playing with his brother, going fishing with his daddy, "dancing" to the music, and eating all of his favorite foods. His sweet smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he could speak just a few words, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Steven's life was way too short, but those who were touched by him are coming to realize that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

With Steven's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, for in his short time with us, he accomplished things that few people ever will. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his winning smile and beautiful spirit, he will forever remain in our hearts and in the hearts of people who never even had the pleasure of meeting him in life. The wonderful memories that we have created with Steven have become priceless treasures to be cherished for the rest of our lives. It has been a privilege to be his family.

Steven is survived by his loving parents: Richard Smith and Marissa Gardner, and his big brother, Dustin Smith, all of Olivehurst, his paternal grandparents: Roger and Diane Byrd of Blue Mound, Illinios, his maternal grandparents: Gary and Geena Day of Live Oak, and David and Kelly Gardner of Yuba City, his maternal great-grand parents: Paul and Laura Hase of Live Oak, and his great-great-grandmother: Norma Smith of Fernley, NV, his aunts: Morgan Gardner of Live Oak, Ainsley Nelson of Yuba City, Amanda Miller of Blue Mound, Illinois, and Theresa Larson of Yuba City, his uncles: Steven Garcia of Live Oak, and Cooper Nelson of Yuba City, and numerous cousins and extended family members.

Steven was preceded in death by his sister Melissa Smith, and an uncle Dustin Van Winkle.

On Tuesday, September 13, we will gather together to celebrate Steven's life. Services will held at the Father's House Church, located at 10720 Live Oak Blvd., Live Oak, CA 95953, beginning at 11:00 am, followed by a procession to the Live Oak Cemetery, for graveside services. After the services conclude, we welcome you all to join us for a community reception at the Live Oak Community Center, located at 10200 "O" St., Live Oak, CA 95953.

Steven's parents, Richard and Marissa, have made a special request that friends, family, and members of our wonderful community please wear bright, colorful clothing to his services to represent Steven's personality, so he may light up the room one more time.

For those wishing to express their love and sympathy, flowers and live plants are welcomed by the family, which will be planted in a quiet garden to be built in Steven's memory.

Services are being handled through Lipp and Sullivan.
