Tayeko was born in Sacramento, CA, on July 24, 1924, to Kazuo and Isao Ito. She passed away on September 11, 2014, she was 90.

She grew up in a large farming family and helped to raise her younger brothers and sisters. Before World War II, the family lived in Davis, CA, where Tayeko attended school. However, her high school education was interrupted by World War II. She and her family were relocated to Tule Lake in Northern California. In Tule Lake, Tayeko graduated from high school and became a nurse's aide and worked in the hospital.

In 1947, Tayeko married the late Takeshi Takeuchi and they farmed in the Rio Oso area.

Tayeko worked as a nursery worker at Fowler Nursery in Newcastle. After her retirement in 1996, Tayeko helped to raise her youngest grandchildren. She loved to spoil her grandchildren.

In her later years, Tayeko moved to Elk Grove and enjoyed gardening, especially her roses. Tayeko had many interests, she liked to crochet, knit, read books, listen to music and go gambling.

She is survived by her children: Peggy (Ken) Okabayashi, Dennis (Joanne) Takeuchi, Lois (Paul) Kashiwase, Gary Takeuchi, Elaine (late Ricke) Behymer, Donald Takeuchi and May (Don) Nickel; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held and internment will be private.
