Thomas F. Galbreath Obituary

Thomas F Galbreath, born in Chico, CA on June 7, 1931, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2015. A decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Tom dedicated 26 years to photo development for the Air Force. He spent multiple tours stationed in Germany and Japan, and was involved in photo reconnaissance during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After retiring from the service, Tom spent the next 20 years driving a school bus for the YCUSD. He shared many fond memories of "his kids" and was proud to see them grow up through the years.

A Yuba City resident since 1979, Tom was very active in the Yuba Sutter community. Everyone who met Tom loved him for his quick wit, his intelligence, and his sense of humor. He always had a story or a joke, and a few moments in his company was enough to make anyone smile. Tom never met a stranger, only new friends. One of his favorite things to do was to enjoy a meal in the company of friends at the Cooking Pot, which he did almost daily.

Tom kept active in many organizations. He was an Eagle Scout and scout camp inspector. He was an avid member of both the model airplane club and the Ham radio AARL club, and used those skills to man the local Bike Around the Buttes rest stops every year. He was a member of the VFW, the American Bonsai association, and the Black Powder Mountain Men. Tom was an extremely generous man, donating regularly to numerous charities.

Tom is survived by his sister, Alice Collins and her large extended family; his nephews, Ray and Kelly Frerichs, along with many great nephews and nieces. In the spirit of all Tom believed in, the family requests donations be made to the Summerfield Senior Living Center in lieu of flowers.
