Thomas H. Madsen Obituary

Tom was born in Glendive, MT in 1917. he grew up on a homestead with three sisters, Francis, Kate and Evelyn in the area known as Union, near Circle, MT. Grade school was provided by a neighbor. He graduated from Brockway High, in Brockway, MT. After high school he attended normal school in Billings, MT. He served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot during World War II, which at that time he met Alma and they married in 1943.

Tom and Alma moved to Yuba City in 1949. He worked for the California Division of Highways as a civil engineer. They raised their four children in Yuba city. They were active members of the Marysville First United Methodist Church, Roseville Rock n Rollers, National Travelers Campers (N.T.C.) and were avid travelers, wearing out two motor homes.

Both Tom and Alma were active in community service organizations including P.T.A , Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts and American Field Service. Tom was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Circle, MT for more than 70 years. Tom received the Silver Beaver Award from Butte Area Council of Boy Scouts and the Bent Hammer Award from Marysville First United Methodist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife, Alma; four children and one A.F.S. exchange son from Brazil; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister Kate and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and community member.

Memorial services will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Marysville First United Methodist Church.
