Tom Davies Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tom Davies from cancer, on March 16, 2014.

He was an excellent husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and brother.

He leaves a grieving widow, Judith; his children, Larry and Lindy; his stepdaughter, Regina Simpson (Christopher); grandchildren, Tim and Angela Buckner; two brothers, Gilbert and Daniel; and many friends.

He was born in Upper Darby, PA on November 5, 1938, to Lawrence E. Davies and Edna Gilbert, but became a California resident at the age of 2, when his father was appointed the West Coast correspondent for the New York Times. Tom graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene.

In 1962 he was drafted and stationed in Berlin as a Corporal in the Signal Corps. Here he met and married Charlotte, the mother of his children. After his discharge in 1964, the couple returned to California, where he started his career in social work in Madera County. Later, after their divorce, he transferred to Sutter County, and married Judith Bennett on June 30, 1972. They purchased their home in Oroville.

He is predeceased by his parents, his ex-wife Charlotte Roy, and his stepson Edward Bennett.

A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, April 26 at 2 o'clock at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 1901 Elgin in Oroville.

After the service, everyone is invited to stay and have fun, as Tom would have wished. Refreshments will be served, the bar will be open.

Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the VFW or to the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Oroville.
