Vera Elaine (Hodges) House Obituary

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and wife passed away May 21, 2014 in Rideout Memorial Hospital at the young age of 83. Vera was a caring homemaker and Live Oak resident for over 50 years. She raised her family attending Live Oak Assembly of God Church and was currently a member of Crossroads Community Church.

Vera was born in Rolla, Missouri to Frank and Edna Jarrett on October 10, 1930. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Ray and Bonnie Landers, who cared for her as their own after her mother Edna passed away shortly after Vera's birth. Vera married Lloyd Hodges on December 6, 1947. After Lloyd passed away in 1998, she met Wayne House and they married on June 30, 2007. Vera enjoyed spoiling him until she passed away.

Vera is survived by her husdand Wayne; one sister Barbara Carpenter and husband Ron of Washington; one brother, Gene Landers and his wife Charlotte of Live Oak; one cousin/sister June Ledbetter of Anaheim Hills, CA; her four sons and their wives: Ervin and Cindy of Oroville, Jerry and Annet, Rick and Alechia, Ken and Diane, all of Live Oak. Her stepson David House and his wife Diana of Olivehurst. Vera had 10 grandchildren, 10 great granddaughters, 1 great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vera loved the outdoors, camping, traveling, family and games. She was also passionate over Southern gospel, Cracker Barrel Restaurants and Branson, Missouri.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Crossroads Community Church, 445 B St., Yuba City. Viewing is available from 9:00 am until the service starts at 10:00 am. Internment at Live Oak Cemetery will follow a reception at the church.
