Vernon H. Pequette Obituary

Vernon H. Pequette, 91, passed away December 30, 2015 in Marysville, CA. He was the husband of Doris Pequette. They shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Hebron, Nebraska, he was the youngest son of Joseph and Sophie Pequette. He was in charge of his own two horse farm team when he was just nine years old. He moved to Washington state with his family to work in the saw mills and logged with his older brothers.

In 1943, he enlisted in the Army where he was stationed at Camp Beale as a Transportation Engineer.

He worked at Siller Bros. for 57 years in every aspect of the company. He logged, farmed, worked aviation logging, drove trucks, and built logging trucks for the company. While there, he received an award from John Deere engineers for his contribution to the rice harvest industry.

In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles especially Harleys and Indians. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing, camping and RV-ing with his family. He enjoyed watching all of his grandkids' sporting events even sitting through numerous dance recitals.

His grandkids described him as unselfish, loyal, wise, patient, kind, a true gentleman that was dedicated to his family and always just a phone call away.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Darlene and grandson Scot. Vern is survived by Doris, daughter Jenise (Mike) son Dave (Sharon), grandchildren Kevin (Ann), Madeline (Steve), Schelene (Dave), Sara (Nick), and Mike (Amy).
