Vernon Joe (Jay) Carter Obituary

Vernon Joe (Jay) Carter passed away on March 8, 2015 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born on May 26, 1938 in Kinta, Oklahoma. His family moved out here in the late 1940's to Marysville, California.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, son Don of Reno, Nevada, daughters Barbara (David) Gaither of Sutter, California and Rebecca Bartch of Yuba City, California, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers Doie (Joie) of Olivehurst, California, Rex (Linda) of Columbia, Missouri, and Lucky (Caralyn) of Walport, Oregon, Spike Gies (Sharon) of Colusa California, one sister Loene Massey (Albert) of Ventura, California, one sister-in-law Mary Carter of Meridian, California and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay loved to spend time with his family. He always put family in front of everything else in his life. He was always willing to help friends and family in any way he was able. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed square dancing. He was truly a jack of all trades and held many jobs throughout his life. He worked as a farmer, a manufacturer, a mechanic and welder.

Jay was a loving and caring person that will be missed dearly by all who knew him. In honor of his enthusiastic and optimistic way of life, his family feels that it would be most appropriate to hold a Celebration of Life.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the Veterans Hall in Meridian, California, on May 2, 2015. The celebration will begin at 1:00pm and last until 4:00pm. The family welcomes all who come and to bring a dish for the potluck.
