Vickie Jimenez Fernandez Obituary

Vickie Jimenez Fernandez of Yuba City, died on Monday, February 10, 2014, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through three weeks of a grueling but valiant fight against the H1N1 flu virus which she contracted while on vacation with her husband.

After graduating from Yuba City High School, she attended Yuba College to study business accounting. In 1973, she began work at Baldwin Contracting Company in Marysville and stayed with the company (now Knife River Construction located in Chico, CA) until her untimely passing.

On a beautiful day at Ellis Lake in Marysville, she met her Sweetheart, Guadalupe Fernandez. The couple married the following year on November 20, 1976, at St. Isidore Catholic Church and continued to live and raise their family in Yuba City.

Known for her luminescent smile and contagious laugh, her sweet and simple demeanor won the trust and hearts of anyone she came in contact with. Her love of life, evidenced by her constant smile, laughter, and humor, will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe Fernandez of Yuba City; three daughters, Graciela Fernandez of Lincoln, CA, Victoria Fernandez of Yuba City, CA, Rosa Fernandez and her spouse Nathan Kiehn of Sacramento, CA; grandson due April 2nd, Wendell Victor Fernandez Kiehn; three brothers, Lawrence Jimenez and his wife, Lidia of Yuba City, CA, Thomas Jimenez and his wife, Josefina of Yuba City, CA, and Rafael Jimenez; a sister, Rachel Romero of Yuba City, CA; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and God-children.

Visitation will start at 5:00pm followed by Rosary at 6:00pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City, CA 95991.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 10:00am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Avenue, Yuba City, CA, 95991, with Fr. Miguel Silva officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Knights Landing Cemetery. Arrangement under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel of Yuba City, CA.

Following the burial, a luncheon reception for family and friends will be held at St. Isidore Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you live life the way Vickie did. Treat others the way you would like to be treated, i.e. perform a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say "I love you" to your special friend in her memory.
