Walter William Salsbery passed away at the age of 91 years and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 8, 1922, the son of Alex Ender Salsbery and Della Evelyn (Thomas) Salsbery.
He was married to Clara Betty (Smith) Salsbery on September 17, 1944 and passed 12 days short of their 69th year anniversary. They lived in Zayante of the Santa Cruz mountain's area until 1976 when they moved to Dobbins, California. He was a retired Union Carpenter of 50 years.
Walter loved the country and had the philosophy of always leaving a place in better condition for the next person. He loved to explore, fish, hunt, and was an avid gardener. His family learned a lot about caring for the environment and being resourceful.
Walter was preceded in death by his son, David Walter Salsbery and granddaughter Miharu Marie Salsbery.
He is survived by his wife Clara and their two other children: son Alexander William Salsbery (and daughter-in- law Jan) of Susanville, and daughter Gayl Marie (Salsbery) Currier (and son-in-law Scott) of Olivehurst; along with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Walter is greatly missed by his family who loved him dearly.
A private "Celebration of Life" is planned for their family on September 28, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
