Wanda Lois Shadd Obituary

Wanda Lois Shadd, 86, a longtime resident of Marysville, CA, peacefully passed away on August 8, 2017, in Yuba City, CA. She was born on June 29, 1931, in Enid, Oklahoma to Marlin and Mabel Dobbs.

While still a young girl, her family moved to Richvale, CA, where she went to grade school and later attended Biggs high school (class of "49"). Wanda met her future husband Kay Shadd in high school where they courted for three years before marrying on July 4, 1951 in Minden, NV.

She worked at a dental office while Kay served in the Korean war until 1954. The couple purchased a gas station in Marysville which they owned and operated until 1977. Kay became ill soon after and passed away in 1980.

In addition to being a homemaker, Wanda was a loving mother who always enjoyed being involved with her two sons Rodney and Roger. Her house was known to be a central hub for all the neighborhood kids to play and hangout. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for family and friends and loved watching them devour her culinary creations.

Wanda always made sure that she had her clothes pressed, hair and makeup complete before going anywhere. Whether it be the grocery store or out to dinner, she always wanted to be public ready. Wanda also loved being around her many grandchildren, especially during the holidays.

She had many friends throughout her life that she held dear to her heart and loved spending time with as often as possible. Among those friends are Betty Goodman, Lila Davis and Stella Chiono…just to name a few.

Wanda will be remembered for her enthusiastic sense of humor, fierce loyalty and wonderful caring heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Mable Dobbs; her husband, Kay Shadd; and her son, Rodney K. Shadd.

Wanda is survived by her son, Roger A. Shadd, his wife Lettie; and her six grandchildren Christina, Jessica, Roxanna, Daniella, Kayla, Andrea as well as her fourteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at: Ullrey Memorial Chapel 817 Almond St. Yuba City, CA on August 25, 2017, at 11:00am.
