Wanda Lorene (Carter) Shubat Obituary

Wanda Lorene (Carter) Shubat, age 82, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 27, 2016 from respiratory failure.

She was born July 17, 1933 in San Bernardino, CA. After graduating high school, she enrolled in a vocational nursing program at San Bernardino County Hospital.

In 1951, she met and married the love of her life, Emil G. Shubat at Patton State Hospital where Emil and her father worked together as auditors of the hospital. They were married September 16, 1951 in Florence, AZ. They had five children, Ken (Helga) Shubat from Live Oak, CA, Larry (Vickie) Shubat from Ohio, Allen (Mary Beth) from San Diego, CA, Nadine (Louis) Keller from Live Oak, CA, and Lorene (Mat) Conant from Rio Oso, CA. Together, Emil and Wanda have 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children. In 1964, they purchased a Walnut Ranch in Live Oak, CA.

Wanda was employed by the Live Oak Unified School District since 1966. On September 1972, she became Supervisor of the Schools Cafeteria until she retired in 1998.

Her husband Emil G. Shubat, who passed away on November 14, 2015, precedes her in death.

Her hobbies included spending every moment with family, reading everything, camping, and fishing when she was younger. She was involved in Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, 4-H leader, and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, cruising, gambling, farming with her husband, and grocery shopping.

Graveside services will be held on March 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at Live Oak Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow at the Starlight room in the Hillcrest Plaza in Yuba City, CA
