William Adams Wheeler

Faithful servant of Christ, William (Bill) Adams Wheeler, 83, of Colusa, CA passed away on Sept. 30, 2010. He was born on October 7, 1926 in Oroville, CA to Jim and May Wheeler and raised in Gridley. Bill served almost 6 years in the U.S. Army. He married Joan Cadwallader in1954. After graduating from the University of Redlands they moved to No. CA and Bill attended Berkeley Baptist Divinity School, where he received his Master of Divinity. After ordination he served the Glenn Baptist Church for 2 years. Bill joined the CA-NV United Methodist Conference, serving churches in Lovelock, NV, Point Arena, Smith River, Knights Landing, Colusa, Princeton and Williams, CA. After retirement in 1989, he filled in at Arbuckle, Guinda, Meridian and Maxwell, as well as supply preaching. In every community he lived, Bill volunteered in many different capacities. Survivors include Joan, his loving wife of 55 years; daughters: Lisa (Gary) Weir of Marysville, Linda (Bill) Wright of Fresno, Suzi (Dave) Hargadon and Nancy (Lee) Careaga of Woodland; 11 Grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 Step-great grandchildren; Sisters: Vinetta Cameron, Helen Taylor, Eva Bowser and Dorothy (W.F.) Little. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Wheeler and great granddaughter Laurel Lyvonne. Memorial Services will be on Sat., October 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church on the corner of 5th and Oak Streets, Colusa, CA. Bill will be laid to rest in a private burial service at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
