William Alger Raade Obituary

Major William Alger Raade, (Wild Bill), Bill of Yuba City, California, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the age of 84, with his family at his side. He was born on September 27, 1931 to Andrew and Sophia Raade in Clatskanie, Oregon. On August 11, 1956 he married Mary Ruth Pilcher.

Bill was retired USAF fighter pilot and flight instructor. After retirement, he enjoyed various occupations such as a crop duster and auto body specialist. He was a resident of Yuba-Sutter for many years.

Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed working in the garden and was a gourmet cook. He had a passion for fishing and at one time hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth (Pilcher) of 60 years and six children, Diane A. Raade (Jeremiah) of SLC, UT, Michael W. Raade of Medford, OR, Lisa M. Raade (Ahonen) of Yuba City, CA, Linda R. Coleman (Raade) of Fredricksburg, VA, Joseph H. Raade of SLC, UT, and John A. Raade of Yuba City, CA. Also survived by 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 830 D Street in Marysville, CA on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5-8 pm. Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2105 at 11:00 am at the LDS Ward Chapel at 520 B Street in Yuba City, CA. Bill will be laid to rest at Sutter Cemetery with full honor military salute and colors after the service.
