William C. (Dub) McFarland Obituary

Passed away peacefully on October 15, 2010 due to complications from a stroke. Dub was born on August 5, 1931 in Rossville, Georgia. Dub served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He came to California in January, 1956 and eventually settled in Marysville. Until his retirement in 1992, Dub was a respected businessman and partner in the Marysville Auto Parts Company. During his youth, Dub enjoyed hunting and was always an avid fisherman. After his retirement, Dub discovered his true passion, flying. Dub got his pilot's license at age 63 and enjoyed the many friends and numerous hours spent at his hangar, "Dub's Flyin" at the Yuba County Airport. Dub is survived by his children Carmen McFarland of Roseville and Melody Hayes of Sacramento, grandchildren Caitlin and Christopher Hayes of Sacramento, brothers, George D. McFarland of Kensington, GA and James T. McFarland of Calhoun, GA, and sisters, Mary Ann Thaxton of Rossville, GA and Jenny Saffels of Madisonville, KY, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dub was taken from us suddenly and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private funeral was held at Sutter Cemetery on October 22, 2010. There will be a celebration of Dub's life on October 30, 2010 from 1:00 â€" 4:00 at Dub's Hangar at the Yuba County Airport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Dub's behalf to the Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County, 1333 Butte House Road. Yuba City, CA 95993 Send Condolences to www.appealdemocrat.com
