William E. Poulos Obituary

Colonel William E. Poulos, USA (Retired), died August 23, 2017, at the age of 93 1/2.

He was an American soldier, and, as a motion picture producer for the Army and Air Force, he chronicled many of the major events of the last half of the 20th century.

He numbered among his friends and colleagues astronauts, (including the original seven and all twelve that walked on the moon); test pilots, (including those that tested the X-1, X-2, and X-15 rocket planes); Generals; Presidents; Medal of Honor recipients; E-1 Privates and E-1 Airman Basics. As a foot soldier, before the age of 21, he earned three battle stars and a Purple Heart, (which he never felt worthy to wear).

He was a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces; the Command and General Staff College, (where he later taught); and, the War College. He graduated from the fledgling USC film school.

He is survived by his wife, twin sons, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services, with military honors, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Yuba City. There will be a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on August 29, 2017, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
